Young Republican Leaders’ Leaked Chats: Racist, Violent Rhetoric Triggers Fallout

POLITICO obtained 2,900 pages of Telegram messages over seven months among Young Republican leaders in NY, KS, AZ, and VT. The chats include slurs, praise for slavery, and talk of gas chambers and rape.

Since inquiries began, one participant lost their job and another had an offer rescinded; NY Republicans including Rep. Elise Stefanik condemned the chat.Kansas Young Republicans were deactivated.

Examples: the chair reacted to “Great. I love Hitler” with a smiley; the vice chair used the N-word repeatedly.Vice President JD Vance downplayed the leak as “pearl clutching.”
