The Brazilian Supreme Court Investigation into Elon Musk's Alleged Role in Spreading Fake News and Obstruction
According to the Associated Press, Brazilian Supreme Court justice, Justice Alexandre de Moraes, has launched an investigation into Elon Musk for his alleged involvement in spreading fake news and obstructing justice.
De Moraes cited Musk's recent public statements as evidence of a "disinformation campaign" against the court. Musk's comments, particularly those regarding his company X's refusal to comply with court orders, prompted the investigation.
“The flagrant conduct of obstruction of Brazilian justice, incitement of crime, the public threat of disobedience of court orders and future lack of cooperation from the platform are facts that disrespect the sovereignty of Brazil. - De Moraes
De Moraes emphasized Musk's actions as a disregard for Brazilian sovereignty and announced that Musk will be probed for intentionally using X as a tool in a broader investigation into digital militias accused of spreading defamatory content and threats against Supreme Court justices.
The investigation will examine possible charges of obstruction, involvement in criminal organizations, and incitement.
