Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy held a phone call with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss Ukraine’s ongoing defense needs and international support. Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its continued military and financial aid, as well as its sanctions against Russia.
The leaders focused on strengthening Ukraine's air defense and expanding joint drone production, especially interceptors. They emphasized the urgency of new sanctions to limit Russia’s ability to fund the war.
The call also touched on recent talks with Russia in Istanbul and Ukraine’s proposal for a leader-level meeting. Carney voiced strong support for Zelenskyy’s anti-corruption legislation, urging the Verkhovna Rada to pass it fully on July 31.
