This Week: What do we do to stay well?

I would like to thank everyone who responded with such grace and gratitude to last week's edition on joy. I’m so excited that it resonated and am truly inspired to continue growing together.

This week brought yet another round of tough news, rather upsetting developments, and the sense that we all need to grow a “thicker skin.” But how thick should that get before we lose touch with ourselves?

So this week, I’d like to focus on wellbeing.

What do we do to stay well? Physically, emotionally, mentally.

But first, as we always do, let’s take a look at what happened in culture this week.

Known for pushing boundaries with his dramatic, often provocative silhouettes, Demna’s last Balenciaga show combined stark tailoring with sculptural couture and emotional storytelling. The finale was seen as a personal tribute to his roots and his humanitarian work, marking the end of an era for Balenciaga as he prepares to bring his signature vision to Dior’s historic ateliers.

 🫶 LET'S TALK ABOUT WELLBEING

To stay well is to stay balanced. To have structure and use it as your backbone when life feels like too much. Let’s explore some practical ways to improve our wellbeing.

💪 FOR THE BODY

5 things to do to stay well

ree

Go for a daily walk, even if it’s just 15 minutes.

A short walk can do wonders for your body and mind. It boosts circulation, eases stiffness, and provides a break from screens. Even better, walking outdoors offers fresh air and a moment of calm reflection.

Stretch your body in the morning and/or before bed.

Gentle stretching helps release tension built up overnight or during the day. It improves flexibility, reduces aches, and signals to your body that it’s time to wake up or wind down. Even 5 minutes can make a difference.

Practice deep breathing for 5 minutes to calm the nervous system.

Intentional breathing activates your body’s relaxation response. Inhale deeply through the nose, hold briefly, and exhale slowly. This simple practice lowers stress, reduces anxiety, and grounds you in the present moment.

Get consistent, quality sleep—aim for 7–8 hours.

Rest is essential for physical recovery, emotional balance, and mental clarity. Try to go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. Create a calming bedtime routine and limit screens to help your body know it’s time to rest.

Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Staying hydrated keeps your body functioning at its best. It helps regulate temperature, supports digestion, and improves focus. Carry a reusable water bottle as a reminder to sip regularly. Your body and mind will thank you.

5 things to eat to stay well

Leafy greens (spinach, kale, chard): Packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber, leafy greens support digestion, reduce inflammation, and provide essential nutrients for overall health.

Fresh berries (blueberries, strawberries): Rich in antioxidants and natural sweetness, berries help fight cell damage, boost your immune system, and satisfy your sweet tooth in a healthy way.

Fatty fish (salmon, sardines): A great source of omega-3 fatty acids, these support heart health, reduce inflammation, and even promote brain function and mood balance.

Nuts and seeds (almonds, chia, flax): Loaded with healthy fats, protein, and fiber, they help keep you full, support heart health, and provide a satisfying crunch to meals and snacks.

Whole grains (quinoa, brown rice): Full of fiber and nutrients, whole grains help stabilize blood sugar, aid digestion, and provide long-lasting energy throughout the day.
