Pentagon Halts Key Weapons Shipments to Ukraine

The Pentagon has suspended shipments of certain air defense missiles and precision-guided munitions to Ukraine, citing concerns over critically low U.S. weapons stockpiles. The decision, initiated by Pentagon policy chief Elbridge Colby, follows a recent internal review that flagged declining reserves of artillery rounds, missile systems, and other high-demand munitions.
According to Politico’s sources familiar with the matter, the decision was made in early June but is only now being implemented—just as Ukraine faces a surge in Russian missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and other cities.
The pause affects some of the aid previously pledged under the Biden administration, raising questions about how the U.S. will balance its commitment to Ukraine with maintaining its own military readiness (or, rather, its evident support of Russia).
