Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh condemned the violence that unfolded in Pennsylvania over the weekend, emphasizing that such acts have no place in American society. The incident involved an attempt to assassinate former President Donald Trump, resulting in the tragic death of a Pennsylvania man and injuries to others.

Singh underscored that violence is not the solution to resolving differences in the United States. She confirmed that there have been no changes to the military's posture in response to the attack, clarifying that the suspect, Thomas Matthew Crooks, had no affiliation with any branch of the military.

Regarding security measures for the upcoming Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Singh stated that approximately 1,700 National Guardsmen, alongside a small contingent of active-duty personnel, are slated to assist civil authorities from July 13-19.

These forces, primarily from the Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota National Guard, will provide critical support including civil support, explosive ordnance expertise, and security operations.

Singh reiterated that this deployment was planned well in advance and is part of a broader effort to ensure public safety during national special security events. She highlighted that similar National Guard support was provided during the recent NATO summit in Washington and will also be deployed for the upcoming Democratic National Convention later this summer.

The personnel involved will remain prepared to respond swiftly to any emergent domestic needs to safeguard lives, property, and uphold public order.
