Ohio Senator JD Vance Avoids Question on Trump's Immigration Policy and Family Separations
Ohio Senator JD Vance avoided answering questions about whether Trump's proposed "zero tolerance" immigration policy would result in family separations.
On "Meet the Press," Vance emphasized the need to stop illegal immigration before addressing deportations, criticizing current policies but not directly addressing family separations.
He mentioned that current separations are happening and suggested that deportations would initially target the most violent criminals.
Response by Harris-Walz 2024 Senior Spokesperson Kevin Munoz:
“Whether your administration would tear families apart and put kids in cages should not be a tough question. But JD Vance is ducking and dodging because he knows Donald Trump would go as far as using the military to tear children from their mother’s arms and round up migrants into mass detention camps, all after blocking the bipartisan border plan that would have been the strongest investment to secure our border in years. Vice President Harris believes we need to get that plan done, and go even further by bringing Republicans and Democrats together to create an earned pathway to citizenship and strengthen our broken immigration system.”
