The House of Representatives has voted to end the government shutdown, approving the Senate-passed funding bill late Tuesday.
Final vote tally on the shutdown bill: GOP: 216 YES, 2 NO Democrats: 6 YES, 206 NO
Total: 222 YES — 209 NO Non-voting: 2
The measure now heads to the White House, where President Trump is expected to sign it into law at 9:45 p.m. ET in the Oval Office.
The vote followed a tense day on Capitol Hill. Earlier, during a House Rules Committee meeting, Democrats expressed frustration over the bill’s failure to extend enhanced Obamacare subsidies that help make health coverage more affordable. A proposed three-year extension was rejected, but analysts say the debate highlights Democrats’ continued push to pressure Republicans over rising healthcare costs.
