"The clothing we wear gives us the power to make a statement without saying a word," Biden began, emphasizing that this year, it is not enough to simply wear our values. "We must wear it, say it, march for it—and then do it: Vote!"

Reflecting on her own voting experience, Biden recounted her early days as a student at the University of Delaware when she was hesitant to vote for her future husband, Joe Biden. She shared that her parents were Republicans and politics was not a significant part of her life. Yet, she was convinced by the belief that every vote mattered. Joe Biden won his first election by a narrow margin of about 3,000 votes, a reminder of how crucial every single vote can be.

Biden then shifted focus to the pressing issues of the day. She expressed her sorrow over recent school shootings, calling for action to ban assault rifles and emphasizing the need to protect children’s freedom to learn in a safe environment. "We cannot accept these school shootings as a fact of life," she asserted.

The First Lady also highlighted the broader implications of elections on personal freedoms and creative expression. She warned that current court decisions and book bans pose a threat to these freedoms and stressed the importance of voting in upcoming elections to influence future Supreme Court appointments and legislative decisions.

Biden praised the fashion industry for its historical role in raising awareness and driving change, citing past efforts to address AIDS and breast cancer. She acknowledged the contributions of key figures in the fashion world, including Thom Browne, Aurora James, and Anna Wintour, for their leadership and impact both within and beyond the industry.

In closing, Biden encouraged everyone to vote early, engage in voter outreach, and leverage social media to galvanize support. "Let’s get out the vote!" she urged. “Vote early. Then help others do the same. Post on social media. Call your friends across the country. And remind everyone that we can vote our way toward a future where freedom really does ring."

With her passionate address, First Lady Jill Biden called on all present to channel their commitment to change through the power of their vote, underscoring that elections are a critical opportunity to secure the freedoms and future they value.
