Elon Musk to Launch “The America Party” on July 4 in Open Challenge to Trump

Elon Musk is set to formally launch his new political movement, The America Party, on July 4 — a bold declaration of political independence and a direct challenge to President Donald Trump. Once a major donor to Trump’s 2024 campaign through his America PAC (reportedly contributing $200–300 million), Musk now calls Trump an adversary and has vowed to oppose him politically.

Framing his new party as an alternative to what he calls the corrupt “PORKY PIG PARTY,” Musk is targeting Republicans who supported Trump’s sweeping “One Big Beautiful Bill” — a massive spending and debt-ceiling package. He has promised to fund primary challengers against them and says his goal is to break the grip of the bipartisan “uniparty.”

Musk argues that most Americans are “politically homeless” and cites his own poll on X (that he controls), where apparently 80% of respondents expressed support for a new political party. He says The America Party will be a home for that “80% in the middle.”

The political fallout has been intense. Trump has threatened to pull federal subsidies and contracts from Musk’s companies and even floated the idea of deporting him.
